(SHADA: TEHRAN) -- Addressing a meeting at the Ministry of Economy, Farhad Dejpasand congratulated on the occasion of the appointment of the new Australian Ambassador to Iran, expressing hope that the two countries would develop their relations at the highest level in terms of political, economic and cultural-educational cooperation.
Pointing to the good cultural-educational relations between Iran and Australia and the presence of a significant number of Iranian students in Australia, Dejpasand said: The development of trade cooperation between the two countries can be put on the agenda by enhancing cultural relations and, for example, tourism development.
The Minister of Economy pointed out the relative advantages and privileges of Iran for investment and its geopolitical position in the region, and said: Despite the difficulties, we can enhance the level of mutual cooperation between Iran and Australia with a coherent plan.
Of course, in order to create this leap and to develop cooperation, there must be three agreements on double taxation avoidance, customs cooperation, and foreign investment between the two countries; and given the large population of Iranians in Australia, the insurance partnership agreement could be added too, he stated.
The Minister of Economy also announced that Iran is ready to hold a joint meeting between Iranian and Australian investors and businessmen in the near future.
According to the report, Australian ambassador to Tehran Lyndall Sachs expressed readiness to expand cooperation between the two countries.
