(SHADA: TEHRAN) -- Stating that this year, we are focusing on the production leap as the slogan of the year and the fight against the negative consequences of the Coronavirus epidemic, Farhad Dejpasand said: Regarding taxes, while observing the current situation of economic activists, we must rely on tax revenues to free the budget from oil and meet the needs of the country, and for this reason, we received a series of approvals from the Supreme Council for Economic Coordination, which can be crucial in keeping the private sector and economic actors free from certain concerns, as well as increasing government revenues.
Pointing to the issue of heavy fines for overdue taxes of economic activists and the income of 10 thousand billion Tomans of the government last year with the forgiveness of these fines, Dejpasand said: This year, considering the successful experience of last year, we have received a resolution from the Supreme Council for Economic Coordination, according to which we can forgive the penalties for overdue taxes this year as well.
This year, of course, we have done another thing; due to the conditions caused by the Coronavirus outbreak, we have expanded the scope of this forgiveness from manufacturing firms to enterprises producing goods and services so that more taxpayers can be covered by this forgiveness, he added.
Moreover, in the previous law, we had an incentive that if a taxpayer paid his predetermined tax earlier, he would be given a one percent bonus per month, but now, by law, that figure has risen by 50 percent to 1.5 percent; In other words, if a taxpayer pays his tax earlier, he will receive a total of 18 percent bonus in one year, which is even 3 percent higher than the interest rate on a bank deposit, the Minister continued.
In this way, the government's revenue will increase and there will be no need for other sources to do so, and the private sector will have a good profit too, he added.
In another part of his speech, Dejpasand stated that economic enterprises are very willing to be accepted for the stock market due to the good conditions of the capital market, adding: There are companies that have clear and transparent tax conditions, but they are worried that if they enter the capital market, their tax records of previous years will be reconsidered.
In order to address this concern, in a resolution we received from the Supreme Council for Economic Coordination and fortunately it has been announced, we have banned the tax authorities from reviewing the files of the years before 1398 of all the companies that are admitted to the stock exchange this year, and these companies will only pay taxes on their 1398 financial statements, the Minister of Economy stated.
This is a special golden opportunity that will both deepen the capital market and create a new tax base for the government, Dejpasand added.
